Studies have shown that the coronavirus exists in the United States earlier than originally thought. Antibodies to the virus were found in 39 blood samples from Washington, Oregon, and California, and the virus was found in 67 samples from six other states. The researchers said: "These findings indicate that SARS-CoV-2 may have been introduced into the United States before January 19, 2020." The survey results also "highlight the value of blood donation as a source for SARS-CoV-2 monitoring."

Covid-19’s devastating toll on black and Latino Americans, in one chart
The US health system has failed black and Latino populations for decades. Now they’re paying the price.
It has been clear for some time that the coronavirus pandemic is killing black and Latino Americans at disproportionately high rates, but new data from the last few days reveals just how devastating the Covid-19 crisis has been for people of color.

The same trends can be seen in infection and hospitalization rates, too.
