Blacks and American Indians have the highest mortality rates. Nationwide, black people are 2.4 times more likely to die of COVID-19 than non-Latin American whites, and in some states, the mortality rate is seven times higher. The Navajo Nation is particularly devastated, and the death rate of indigenous people in Arizona and New Mexico is 5-7 times higher.
